Should you do a boudoir session on your period? The best piece of advice I can give is to keep track of your cycle on a regular basis. That way, you can schedule your session when you know you will not be on your cycle.
However, we all know that our cycles can change at the drop of a dime or may not always be predictable. So it really depends on your personal preference and how you feel about your body during that time of the month.
Let’s face it….some women are lucky as hell. These are the ones that feel completely comfortable when they are on their period. No cramps, no bloating, no discomfort at all (must be nice!).
And then there are women like myself, who are not so lucky when Aunt Flo comes to visit. I’m talking full-on cramps from hell and bloat to rival a Christmas hog. We just don’t feel our best during that time. And if your flow is like mine, you may be worried about leaks or stains.
Should you do a boudoir session on your period?
Need help making a decision on whether you should do a boudoir session on your period? Here are some things to consider:
- Your flow. If you have a heavy flow, you may want to consider how you are going to manage this during your session. Wearing a tampon is a common and reliable solution. Be sure to choose one with super absorbency. Or if you are familiar with a menstrual cup, wear one of those during your session.
- Your cramps. If you have severe cramps, you may not feel up to doing a photo session. It may be a good idea to take pain medication a few hours before your session to lower your pain levels. If you are able to manage your pain, then you can still have a great time.
- Your comfort level. If you are not comfortable being photographed during your period, then you should reschedule your session. There is no shame in taking care of yourself and doing what makes you feel better.
Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to do a boudoir photo session on your period is up to you. If you are comfortable with it, then go for it!
