Just like with any type of photo shoot, you want to be as prepared as possible. And I’m sure you have lots of questions. You may have even more questions about your boudoir session because this is such an intimate experience and much more than just any photo shoot. So I decided to pull from my years of experience to put together 5 important tips that I give to each of my boudoir clients. After reading this, you should definitely be better prepared to get the most out of your Atlanta boudoir session with me.
#1 – and most important……STRETCH!!!
I don’t think anyone really understands how much you use your muscles during a boudoir session. Most of the poses are very easy to do, but some of them require some major acrobatics……okay, I’m joking. You don’t have to be an Acrobat for boudoir. But still, you’re going to be bending, twisting, flexing and holding some poses while I get the shot from many angles. You are going to be using muscles that you may not normally use on a regular basis. Please be sure to stretch at least the night before your session and the morning of, especially if you do not normally work out. To help out here is a good 5 minute stretch routine that you can use both before and after your session: 5 Minute Stretch
#2 – Don’t starve yourself
Listen, you are not a robot. You are human and you require food to perform physical activities. Although I do recommend keeping it lite, please eat a healthy meal the night before and the morning of your session. The last thing you want to do is run out of energy before your session is done. Eat a salad or a bowl of fruit. Even bacon and eggs is fine. Just stay away from things that you know will give you bloating or gas. And don’t forget to hydrate (ie: water).
#3 – Try your wardrobe on ahead of time
In boudoir, well fitting lingerie or wardrobe is very important. You do not want something that is too tight (creates unwanted bulges and may be uncomfortable) or anything too loose (for obvious reasons). I always recommend trying your pieces on as soon as they arrive, in case you need to return anything for a better size. If possible, have your measurements taken by a professional to insure proper fit.
#4 – Bring Extras…..of everything!
We all know lingerie and underwear can be a bit delicate. Lace can rip easily and your fishnets can snag in your bag on the way to the studio. This is why I tell everyone to bring at least 5 outfits to your boudoir session. And for our ladies or female presenting clients, we have a client closet full of lingerie pieces to choose from if something you’ve brought doesn’t fit or is damaged.
#5 – Don’t feel bad about being nervous
Believe me when I say, nerves are a part of the process. Especially if you have never done this before. And guess what…….it’s completely normal! Just know that when you book a boudoir session with me, you are in great hands. You literally don’t need any modeling experience whatsoever. And I will be there to help you throughout the entire process and I can answer any question at any time. PLUS on the day of your session, I am going to be your personal cheerleader. I’m gonna hype you up! You are going to leave your session feeling amazing. How awesome is that?!
