“What will I wear to my boudoir session?” This has to be the most popular question I get from almost every client that books with me. Everyone is concerned about choosing the right boudoir photoshoot outfits. And I completely understand why. It’s not everyday that you get to get all dressed up in something pretty and lacey and there is an overwhelming amount of options to choose from. Finding the perfect pieces can be intimidating.
No worries though! I got you, sis! We have a Client Closet with lots of options for you to choose from. But you are more than welcomed to bring your own looks as well.
Keep reading on for my tips on what to wear for your boudoir session.
I highly recommend bodysuits! Bodysuits are incredibly flattering on any body type and photograph really well. Theses pieces are sexy and also provide a bit more coverage than a bra and panty set without sacrificing style. They come in many styles and look great with and without sleeves.
Tips for bodysuits:
A matching bra & panty set in virtually any color or pattern is guaranteed to look great in your photo shoot. Panties come in all shapes and sizes. In most cases, panties with a bit of lace and/or coverage will photograph better than a G-string. However, there is one shot we love to do if you bring a great thong!
We recommend bringing at least one wardrobe item that has a little bit of lift, boning or wiring for extra shaping, such as a push-up bra or corset. Shapewear works great for lifting and sculpting your curves. Look for slips that have the built in cups for extra support.
An off-the-shoulder sweater or an over-sized man’s shirt creates a sexy casual vibe. Borrow one from bae and show him the ending results. He’ll be glad he let you raid his closet 😉
Who says that you have to wear actual clothing for your boudoir photoshoot? The fact is, your boudoir outfits can consist of whatever you want. Body jewelry is an awesome alternative to lingerie if you want to try something different. We have a bunch in the studio, but if you’d like to bring your own, check out what’s available on sites like Amazon.
Of course, for one (or all) of your looks, you are welcomed to wear next-to-nothing or nothing at all. Our studio has no problem shooting full or implied nudity. We also have a ton of props, fabrics, body chains and sheets to give your nudes a lil razzle dazzle. Just let us know exactly what you want!
We recommend at least one pair of fabulous high-heeled shoes for your boudoir photo shoot. And the higher the heel, the better!
You may want to bring a pair of black shoes (to wear with your dark colored lingerie) AND a pair of nude or metallic shoes (to wear with lighter colored lingerie).
If you are getting married, bring your wedding shoes.
Before you come to the studio, peel off any labels or stickers and clean the soles of your shoes. The bottoms of your shoes are likely to show in some of your pictures. If your shoes are old and worn-out, it will likely show in the photos.
We love hosiery! Thigh-high stockings are a great addition to almost any boudoir photoshoot outfit. Stockings can be worn with or without a garter belt. We recommend all varieties of thigh-highs: black, white, fishnet, lace – you just can’t go wrong. Not a fan? No worries – bare legs look great on camera too!
The bottom line is that you have plenty of options when it comes to what to wear for your boudoir session. Many women worry that they are bringing the “wrong” wardrobe items to their shoot. Don’t worry, we can make most anything look great on camera. The most important thing is to bring clothing items that fit you properly. If you love your wardrobe items, then you will feel confident — and that confidence will show in your photos! If you don’t love it, don’t bring it. And most importantly, try on everything before you come into the studio.
It’s important to remember that we’ve got you covered for pretty much everything about your shoot, even if you decide not to bring a thing with you! Everything from hair and makeup to posing and snacks, we can take care of it all. Just be sure to show up with clean, dry hair and a clean face. My team and I will take care of the rest 🙂
